Patricio Garcia, an occupational therapist at Renaissance Park Multi Care Center in Fort Worth, received Life Care Centers of America’s Gulf States Region Whatever It Takes And Then Some Award on Aug. 28, 2019, for his dedication to customer service.
Executives from Life Care awarded Garcia a cash prize during an awards ceremony at the company’s headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee. He was chosen from among hundreds of associates in the Gulf States Region and was one of only eight associates from Life Care’s more than 200 facilities nationwide to receive the award.
While Garcia does his job well every day, he was praised for several special ways of serving patients. He makes coffee for residents in the gym to encourage early morning participation in therapy and helps deliver breakfast trays to make mealtime more efficient and pleasurable. He also takes a shorter day during the week so that he can cover weekend evaluations so new admissions can start their rehab programs sooner.
“I’m very humbled by the experience,” said Garcia. “I’m just going to keep being who I am and encourage others to do the same with more acts of kindness and get people to get better. That will have a domino effect, and it will radiate to others.”
Life Care Centers of America’s Whatever It Takes And Then Some program rewards associates for extraordinary acts of kindness. Monthly awards are presented in Life Care facilities nationwide based on nominations from fellow associates, family members, residents and guests. Each facility then chooses an annual winner, from which the divisional winners are selected.
“Dedicated caregivers routinely go far above and beyond their job descriptions, and Patricio Garcia certainly demonstrates by his example their professionalism and compassion for the residents they serve,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “We are proud of Patricio and the thousands he represents in their selfless approach to the needs of others.”
